Funded Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) | Audit 2026 | Survey for Childminders (Approved/Not Delivering)

This survey is only for childminders who are approved as partner providers, but are not currently delivering funded ELC. Your responses and feedback will help inform our ELC Audit 2026.

SCMA actively captures data from childminders to support change and progress for the workforce. We are commissioned each year by the Scottish Government to undertake an audit of local authorities’ progress in including childminders in delivering funded ELC.

Our previous ELC Audits have been very impactful and led to SCMA regularly being invited to the Scottish Parliament to represent our members and the wider childminding workforce.

This year, we are looking for your input to obtain an up-to-date snapshot on the level of involvement childminders currently have in delivering funded ELC in Scotland. This is particularly important this year as a number of local authorities have started to place restrictions on delivering funded ELC.

If you are registered as a partner provider but are not currently delivering funded ELC, please answer the following questions, and help inform our understanding of the challenges and barriers to doing so. The survey should take you no more than five minutes.
Please select your local authority:(Required.)
What age are you?
How long have you been childminding?
What is the maximum number of children on your registration certificate that you are allowed to care for at any one time?
